Idyllic Beach Holiday at Gokarna

Gokarna has a lot of peaceful, serene beach and devoid of the crowds, vendors, and noise. Middle Beach at Gokarna is where you should be if you hate the noise and crowds.

And if you love dogs, cats, and cows you will be making a lot of friends here. The best part is that people here don’t chase them away. Dogs and cats seem well cared for and you can find them resting in the cafes. Dogs also kept me company on the beaches and treks.
The beaches also have lot of cows and dogs looking forward to sharing your meals. Please carry extra bananas for the cows and biscuits or other food for the dogs and cows. Some of them may be very hungry, especially during off seasons.

We stayed at Trippr, Gokarna.  Trippr has a beautiful minimalist  wooden structure and is right on the beach. So, the best part was we could spend all day and all night here for just Rs.700 per day.  We opted for the mixed dorm on the first floor and the beautiful beach was what we saw as soon as we opened your eyes in the mornig.. We did not even have to leave your bed for this.
I went for long walks along the beach every morning. It's almost like a private beach. And the place seems safe for solo women travelers too.
And ensure you spend one night here during the full moon. I just loved the beach during the full moon. I stood at the beach and sat till so late that I fell asleep on the beach. We went back to the dormitory after my husband also started feeling sleepy.
We had a great time at Trippr. This hostel offers mixed dorms, women only dorms, and tents. They also have good lockers and is an energy efficient place which runs on solar power. The staff were friendly and helpful too.

We also went on a breathtakingly beautiful and slightly scary trek.
We first went to Kudle Beach and then trekked from Kudle to Om Beach, then to Half Moon beach. We could not trek to Paradise Beach as it got too late.
  • Kudle beach has the most cafes and Om beach has a few too. Half moon beach does not have any cafes. So, make sure to have a good meal at Trippr or Kudle beach before you continue the trek. Carry enough snacks and water for yourself and also for the animlas.
As we went off season, Namaste Café at OM beach was the only café that was open. Go to the first floor for  a view of the beach. The food was good too.
We also went to cafe called White Elephant café at Kudle beach. They took so much time to serve that we had to walk out and go into the café opposite for some food. The staff at the opposite cafe were so friendly and had a friendly dog named Keisha. But I am unable to recollect the name of the café.
OM beach also has a few cafes.
    ·       Boatmen walk up to you and offer to take you to all the beaches. But the trek is worth the effort. So, I would say trek instead of taking the boat. Or try both on different days.
    ·         If you are going alone or in smaller groups, it is advisable to return to Kudle or OM before sunset. Also keep this in mind if you are using public transport. Ask the boatmen about the time of the last return trip. The boats make their last return trips around 6 PM.

    ·         If you are travelling by your own vehicle, parking is available at both Om beach and Kudle beach. And you can stay out late into the night at most cafes.
